“I came into this life with humble beginnings – and I seek a humble ending. But what I look for along the way is to acquire a life worth living, a day worth getting out of bed for, a smile worth sharing, a hand worth holding. A place worth finding. I just want to look back at my time and regret only things I did do
– never something I didn’t.”
– 2014.
“The voice of God can be found amongst the highest mountains, and between the smallest grains of sand… if you only have the ears to hear it. The essence of a pilgrimage is to move, yet, at some point along the way, you realise you do not move at all ~ the pilgrimage moves you.”
– 2016.
“People have called me many things, given me many titles, accolades, nicknames and honours. In fact I have called myself many things. An artist, an Aesthete, a pilgrim, a wanderer, a muse. Truth is I am not any of those – no Christopher Columbus, Byron, Dorian Gray; no expert traveller, ‘nomad’ or gypsy. Neither am I a Prince, a Lord, Earl or King – yet lesser still a vagabond or slave. I am that which I am. No more. No less.”
– 2017.
“I have looked in all places, behind every door and into the eyes of many worldly men. The only lasting thing I have found, of any value and perpetual comfort to my soul, is undoubted belief in God. I owe my life, and all its deeds, to He…”
– 2019.

Welcome to my diary… the ‘Diary of an Aesthete’.
A pilgrimage of Truth. A passage of Healing. A testimony of Faith.
This is my Global Pilgrimage ~ the story of my life, and the people who have become a part of my story along the way.
Ever looked at the night sky and seen the milky way with your bare eyes, heard the sounds of the deep jungle with your own ears, or left your shoes far behind as you ran through the hot desert barefoot? If you have, then you know that there is more to this life than we are lead to believe, that there is a deeper Truth to uncover… that there is more to this human race and the forces of our nature than the forces of man will ever want you to realise. Some of us realise this. Some of us take this gift of life and run with it. Deep down, in our soul, all of us were Born Free.
Do not let the Devil feast on your freedom.
*
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” – Matthew 7.7
This has been a journey both within and without. I have searched the world, I have search my soul. It hasn’t always been easy or comforting. I have found many things, tested my waters with oil ~ looked hard within for Truth of my making, through all its pain, smoke and mirrors. Artists are witnesses to Creation, not the makers. I have learnt that knowing thyself is key to being a pure vessel, to being as open and forgiving as possible… ~ “When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realise that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty.”
– Jesus Christ.
☩
I am not these deeds or these illusions. This journey is my past and I do not belong to it, as indeed I do not belong to my future. This part of my life has been a voyage of healing and a seeking of Truth. I am not the power behind anything you see. There is only One power in the Creation. I am merely a man of faith, who believes and sees the goodness in all he can, who is grateful for this gift of life granted by the Father. I am someone with an intense passion for Humanity, and Creation… for voyage, and the metamorphosis of travel. Yet more than I am, I am not. For everyday I am learning… and everyday I am changing.
My journey to God has been long and winding, and I will always be thankful for the time I have been given to seek and find answers for myself. The world has many ways, and the eyes have many ways to see… to illuminate, and to blind.
True faith is alive, lives and breathes, and leaves its mark on all it touches. It does not need to be justified or even testified; Living Faith is evidence of itself. It is more than to see, it is more than to believe. It is to know… in knowing you have no need to jump or shout – as you learn, in blissful silence, the dance of truth within.
Follow the Journey.
And take your own.

Your courage to meet and live with these beautiful people in countries some people would not dare to go is truly admirable. I can’t help but stare and look closely to the photos of you having a great time mingling with the native people especially with the children. I guess it’s not just courage that brought you there but a passion. Nothing beats a passion!

I was discussing that only yesterday. I have a family of bees living in the garden and I wondered if it would be a good idea to put out some honey for them. I was dubious in case they got stuck in the stickiness of it.
How exactly do you do it?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well I’ve only done it when rescuing lone bees who’ve been injured or exhausted for some reason. I just put a pea-sized amount of runny honey next to or near them and they usually sniff it out and plunge in with their long tongue, rest for a while and eventually fly off.
You could try leaving some honey near-by though, see what happens? Just don’t get swarmed!!

Thanks, I’ll try leaving just a little by the entrance to their nest. Good for when it’s needed, but also a little treat when it not.

You know the truth as it shows in your eyes and I can tell you emit a peace and love. That’s why animals are drawn to you. And I get what your saying as I have been in the jungles of Guatemala feeling the peace, listening to the holler monkeys, climbing the ancient temples while nibbling on a nutmeg plant. I have sat on the barren beaches of Rocky Point looking up at the millions of stars unaffected by the artificial lights of a large city. I have ran across the hot sands in the desert of Arizona, and have seen the red orbs from my home planet coming around every so often to make sure I am okay.

Well, you’ve taken me “out of my box” for just a few moments! At first glance, it’s easy to become anamored, even envious of your “life.” But the key is to find “life” in or out of the box. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, pastor’s wife and teacher. Sometimes the responsibilites weigh me down. But then, I remember why I’m here: Jesus, only Jesus. To share His truth, to teach His truth, to show His peace and joy and salvation in my life–that makes it a truly wonderful life, even in the box. 🙂 Bless you, and thank you for your transparency. You’re right. We must seek and SEE what blessings we have around us. We make choices, commitments, we have freedom to choose what and where we are. I have made a commitment to stay single, free from usual boundaries for now, whilst I seek the Light on my pilgrimage. Who knows where this path will lead me but I will always share my findings in some way, and hope they inspire people to grasp the reality of our freedom, the true meaning of love, faith and trust in this life. Hi Rebecca, you’re welcome. I am spiritually very wealthy indeed and yet materialistically probably just about as poor as it is possible to be. I have hardly any possessions, no permanent home or job, no spouse or children or educational commitments. All my spare money and time goes into my artistic life and philanthropy. I care to enrich my soul not my pockets. This, for me, is the true meaning of faith. I make a decision/put the relevant energy into my need for almost-constant travel, and God provides my means. It’s as simple as that. I give up control (never been in control anyway, really) and let the pieces fall where they may. Light always finds a way to shine through the darkness, and that is the art of going. Peace. Jx

O my friend, you bless me! Listen, don’t try to absorb it all. When I check my blogs? It boggles my own mind! lol So much Father has given me but, that is all in the course of 30 years. The harvest is the core to center in.
The Harvest is what Father wishes to pass on to all of His children.
“In the journey of your life in My Presence I have implanted My written words within you to produce LIFE & STRENGTH to live accordingly to My will and desire for you to live by! LIFE & STRENGTH to live the life that you are now experiencing is the HARVEST and the most valuable product that you have to offer to My children in these BOOKS!” said Father Yah to thia.
The content of everything in those posts is the process to arrive at the Harvest.
So, may I suggest to let the Spirit of our Father/Creator lead you as you read.

Could I ever put into words the constitution and nature of my own journey in such mystically, beautiful and truer words? No, never. What more is there more to say? I am simply humbled by what I have read, and honestly wonder how it is that you stumbled upon my own humble blog and why it is you have decided to follow me when, in truth and in life, I should be following you. T’would be an honor and privilege if I were actually able to do so! May the Spirit of Life, Light and Truth be ever with you to guide and direct, watch over and protect, bless and keep you ever and alway in Her tender, loving care!

Thank you! “Who doesn’t have challenges? That is what I love about life and writing- it is comedy, tragedy, and drama all on one seat, teetering with fictional prose on the other seat.” This speaks to me much. We indeed ALL have challenges – it is the moving on that makes our success. Keep writing, for you, and for us all. Jx

I found your follow this morning and thought who is this guy? Diary of an Aesthetate, he must think he is Lord Byron! Then I read your blog, then I read some more. I love who you are and what you stand for. To throw off the shackles, to not worry what others think, to travel, to experience, to live. We could all do it, but most do not through fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of letting go, fear of letting others down. I say, “bravo Sir.” Enjoy the ride, the challenges, the laughter, the tears. I hope you can always stay true to your wonderful ideals. I will certainly enjoy following you. I too am blessed with Greek friends and relatives. Austerity can never dampen their flame.
Not sure if you have met Bhudda yet – if not I think you will enjoy his company.
The road is long. Safe navigation.

Ha! Thank you, Wilbur. Actually, my friends and relatives in Greece call me Lord Byron, and as he is held in such high esteem over there I take that as nothing short of highest compliment. Of course, he was rather suave too which applies. I’m so glad to read my site reaches out to you, one so well travelled as you are! And I am so very jealous of your sunrise over the Valley of the Kings, one I will emulate next year and remember you for. Yet to meet the Buddha – we will sit down some day over tea, I’m sure – we have much to discuss… Thank you for passing by. I wish you every success with your future travels. God bless. James x

I would baulk at swimming the Dardanelles if I were you! My Greek family used to have a house on the wonderful island of Skyros. Here is the final resting place of another English poet, Rupert Brooke, who died from an infected mosquito bite. I have walked up the hill to his monument on the island on many occasions to enjoy fabulous views across the bay towards Skopolos and Skiathos.
I spent many weeks on the island reading and playing chess for just about the most chilled times of my life. If you happen to go, early spring is a fab time to visit to find it virtually tourist free.

“Unhindered journey”, journey! Every journey has hindrances. One of the biggest hindrances face is self.

Well said! Life is bloody hard, travel too – but worth it. All great things are worth fighting for. SELF is the hardest thing to challenge. Although a determination to travel, almost constantly, is surely refreshing. I always find it refreshing, lifting, looking back, even if at the time there was a lot more ‘grit’ than a blog can afford. Thanks all. x

Hindrance has negative connotations – it’s an obstacle, an interruption. However, if a person has a positive outlook, they will see this obstacle in a positive light – as a challenge to be relished. This was what I meant by ‘unhindered’ – not letting life prevent you from following your dreams, seizing the challenges to work in your favour. Apologies if you feel I used the term incorrectly or flippantly. It was not meant to offend.
